Radiofrequency (RF) therapy, also called radiofrequency skin tightening, involves using energy waves to heat the deep layer of your skin known as your dermis. This heat stimulates the production of collagen.
Collagen is the most common protein in your body. It creates the framework/support of your skin and gives your skin its firmness.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Invisible radio wave energy is passed harmlessly and painlessly through the skin and gradually heats up the tissue and the extracellular matrix where the collagen fibres are embedded. Heating in the deeper dermis, to a constant 40°- 45°, stimulates fibroblast action (fibroblasts are the connective tissue cells that produce collagen and elastin). In turn, this increases the synthesis of new collagen and elastin fibres.
Local heating causes an immediate contraction of collagen fibres, and at the same time increases the metabolism of the fibroblasts thereby accelerating the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. This thermal trauma, which occurs in 5-30% of the collagen fibres, causes an immediate contraction of the fibres. The contraction results in the production of new collagen.
The concentration of collagen fibres and the regeneration of the collagen and elastin fibres that becomes thickened and strengthened as new collagen is produced, helping to push out fine lines and wrinkles, the skin becomes firmer and the contours are lifted. The diameter of the collagen fibres in the treated area is increased, therfore the spaces between the fibres are visibly reduced under the microscope, helping to plump the skin

CAN I COMBINE IT WITH MICRONEEDLING?
Yes! The addition of microneedling combined with RF can give you dramatically better results. The combination of the two therapies helps further stimulate collagen production, giving your skin a healthier, firmer, rejuvenated appearance.

RF plus microneedling is better because the microneedling part of the procedure creates numerous minuscule pinpricks in the skin. These pinpricks serve as microscopic channels for the flow of radiofrequency energy, which is applied subsequently. As a result, not only is the skin’s natural healing responses evoked, but collagen production is stimulated to help give you smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin.
An added advantage of the microneedling plus RF combination is that it is less aggressive than deep chemical peels and laser skin resurfacing. This means you can achieve noticeable improvements in the appearance of your skin with a shorter recovery time, usually less than 5 days. Most clients experience only minor redness and dryness after microneedling plus RF and can return to work immediately after the treatment. You should be aware that you will require multiple treatment sessions of RF and microneedling for optimum results. Combining protocols is also a great choice for improving scars, as well as skin laxity/sagging skin

DOES IT TREAT DOUBLE-CHINS?
Only if the double chin has loose, slack skin (usually following weight loss). But if the area has fat then we suggest our fat-dissolving injections instead click here.
HOW MANY DO I NEED?
We recommend a course of 8 or more. It should be noted that each person will react slightly differently to the treatment – whilst some may reach their desired outcome after 8 treatments, others may require a course of 10 treatments or more.
Recommended every 2 weeks. Or if you are combining with microneedling, every 4 weeks.
Followed by a maintenance treatment twice a year.
POST-TREATMENT
You may experience mild heat and slight redness in the treated area – aloe vera may be applied to cool the area if necessary though this will pass quickly. This is a perfectly normal reaction after having RF treatments and the skin will settle very quickly.
You are advised to avoid excessive heat (hot baths, direct sun) for at least 48 hours after your treatment and aloe vera or a neutral, un-perfumed moisturiser should be used on the area.

This treatment is not suitable for patients with: Pacemaker or bio-medical implants, Auto-immune diseases, Pregnancy, Bleeding abnormalities, or on Blood thinning medication.
